Research Intern

Ty Pinkins for U.S. Senate is seeking talented Research Interns to assist with our opposition research and media monitoring efforts while working closely with both the communications and digital staff. Interns will gain valuable experience working to compile and organize political research, track paid advertisement, fact-check misinformation, monitor relevant media markets and find creative ways to utilize audio and video footage.

 

The research team works closely with others across departments to communicate critical deadlines and results by analyzing news articles, media monitoring, reviewing social media, and researching legislative and campaign finance histories to help inform campaign and message strategy. This is an ideal opportunity to learn an important skillset while playing an active role in a top-tier U.S. Senate race. Ideally, all candidates should have a passion for politics, curiosity for research, and the ability to think outside the box.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Monitor real-time interviews and news coverage for trends, narratives and breaking news;

  • Track and report on paid advertisement; 

  • Report results and findings to the Research team;

  • Help implement the campaign’s research plan ahead of the 2022 election;

  • Contribute to research team needs and other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, and other programs to track and present information;

  • Politically savvy with a keen interest in Democratic politics;

  • A sharp and critical eye for detail;

  • Excellent organizational skills
